For effective cold-chain transportation, the refrigeration unit is key to keeping cargo at low temperatures during transit.
Today we share how to maintain this “cold guard” for truckers.
1.Compressor condition
Regularly check for abnormal noise, vibration or overheating during operation. Sharp friction sounds may indicate a loose belt; creaking metal noises may mean loose screws. Contact professional technicians promptly to avoid reduced cooling or compressor damage.
2.Refrigerant level
Check the refrigerant level via the sight glass. If no liquid level is visible, refrigerant is insufficient and must be recharged by professionals with specialized equipment.
3.Pipes and joints
Inspect for refrigerant leaks by looking for oil stains or feeling cold surfaces. Stop operation immediately and repair if leaks are found.
4.Belt condition
Check for looseness, wear or aging. Press the fan belt with your thumb; normal deflection is about 0.5 inches. Adjust or replace if needed.

1.Condenser
Easily collects dust, debris, insects and catkins, reducing heat dissipation. Clean from top to bottom with a soft brush, then rinse gently with a low-pressure water gun.
2.Evaporator
Accumulates dirt over time, lowering heat exchange efficiency. Most are copper coils with 3–6mm fins; clean with a water gun and brush.

1.Replace filters
Regularly inspect the compressor for abnormal noise, vibration or overheating. Sharp friction sounds may signal a loose belt; metal creaks may mean loose fasteners. Seek professional repair immediately to avoid performance loss or breakdown.
2.Replace drier bottle
Replace the external drier bottle after one year to remove moisture and impurities from the system.
3.Replace compressor oil and refrigerant
Replace compressor oil, refrigerant and expansion valve after two years.
4.System dehumidification
After passing pressure leak testing, dry and dehumidify the unit using vacuum drying or dry gas displacement.

1.Pre-cool the van in advance
Regularly check the compressor for abnormal noise, vibration or overheating. Address issues promptly to maintain cooling performance.
2.Allow space for cold air circulation
Before transport, fully inspect the refrigeration system, tires, electrics and water lines. Ensure good van sealing to prevent cold air loss.
